The Iowa Swimming Regional meet was held this weekend (2/13-14). This meet is a “last chance” meet for all USA swimmers hoping to meet a “Q” time for the Short Course State Championships held this coming weekend (2/19-21). The Seahawks had an impressive showing. The team won four events, had 26 finishes in the top six (and even more in the top 10!) and swam a ton of personal best times.

We also added five new events to the ISI Qualifiers list!

Meet Highlights
While we can’t recognize everyone’s great swimmers, below are just few highlights from the meet. Be sure to check out the full meet results!

• Olivia Fueling took 2nd place in the Girls 10 & U 100 Back in 1:28.50 (-3.01 seconds) and qualified for ISI State!
• Charles Berdovich won the Boys 8 & U 50 Back with his time of 50.14 and qualified for ISI State!
• Brianna Neifert took 2nd in the Girls 11-12 50 Back with a 33.79 (-1.27 seconds) and qualified for ISI State!
  • Ripley Berg swam a personal best, 39.40 (-1.47 seconds)
• Ripley Berg dropped almost 3 seconds in the Girls 11-12 100 Free to a 1:09.67 and took 8th
  • Ashley Liening dropped 2.13 seconds to 1:12.27
  • Brianna Evans dropped 2.24 seconds to 1:14.35
• Thomas McPhee took 2nd in the Boys 11-12 100 Free with a 1:04.90 (-3.42 seconds) and qualified for ISI State!
• Shaun Slycord took 5th in the 13-14 Boys 100 Free with a 58.72 (-1.51 seconds)
  • Konnor Klocke dropped 2.72 seconds to 1:00.38
• Samantha Douds took 4th in the Girls 10 & U 100 Free with a 1:19.29 (-1.11 seconds)
• Girls 10 & U Relay (O. Feuling, E. Sizemore, S. Douds, P. Santiago) won in 2:26.80!
• Brianna Neifert swam a personal best Girls 11-12 100 Back with a 1:17.86 (-1.17 seconds)
• Kalani Mangin took 10th in the Girls 13-14 100 Back with a 1:13.97 (-2.03 seconds)
• Torin Lackmann took 4th in the Girls 11-12 50 Fly with a 34.68 (-1.70 seconds)
• Thomas McPhee won the Boys 11-12 50 Fly with a 32.31 (-6.85 seconds) and qualified for ISI State!
• Ripley Berg dropped 2.11 seconds in the Girls 11-12 100 IM to a 1:22.47
  • Brianna Evans dropped 17.82 seconds (!) to a 1:28.89
• Girls 11-12 Relay (B. Neifert, M. Albright, R. Berg, T. Lackmann) won in 2:08.72!
