Coaches & Staff

Owner & President | Brayton Weber
Brayton Weber began the South DM Swimming club team to build and promote swimming on the southside of Des Moines, Norwalk and Carlisle. As the Head Coach of the high school women’s and men’s teams, his goal is to have SDMS act as a feeder program for Lincoln High School swimming. Brayton has been coaching at Lincoln High School since 2002. He took over as the head coach of the LHS women’s team in 2005. He was named the head coach of the men’s swim team in April 2008. Brayton currently works as a Grade Level Coordinator (GLC) at Lincoln High School.

Vice President & Head Club Dive Coach | Tereca Weber
Tereca Weber works with South DM Swimming to coach club diving. She also runs the website, store, social media and marketing efforts for the club. Tereca became the assistant for the Rails High School women’s team in 2005 and men’s team in 2011. Tereca currently works in freelance marketing, communication and web design.

Head Club Swim Coach | Mitchell Friend
Coach Friend became a Rails assistant coach for both swim teams in 2014. He graduated from Lincoln in 2013 and was a varsity swimmer for the Rails men’s team. Mitch swam at state his junior and senior year in multiple events. He currently attends DMACC completing classes for his degree
and also works as the strength & conditioning coach for Lincoln High School.

Club & USA Coach | Valeria Santiago
Coach Valeria graduated from Lincoln High School in May 2015. She was a member of the Lincoln Rails swim team for all four years and was a club swimmer when she was younger. Valeria swam the 200 IM, 100 Fly and was the flyer in the state qualifying 200 Medley Relay. She also earned the Spirit Award two years in a row demonstrating her vocal support of her team. Valeria started assisting the SDMS club team in 2011. She also works as a lifeguard during the off-season.

Club Coach | Minge Song
Coach Minge graduated from Lincoln High School in 2011. She was a member of the Lincoln Rails women’s swim team for four years, was a four-year state qualifier and was a youth club swimmer. In high school, Minge was a flyer and a freestyle sprinter. Minge started assisting the SDMS club team during the summer in 2013. She graduated with a teaching degree and currently works for Des Moines Public Schools teaching preschool on the southside.

Club Coach | Jordan Greenwood
Coach Jordan graduated from Carlisle High School in 2015. She was a member of the Lincoln Rails women’s swim team for four years and was a state qualifier swimmer. In high school, Jordan was a distance swimmer and swam sprint freestyle in relays. She currently holds two school records in the Medley Relay and 400 Freestyle Relay. Jordan is attending Simpson College in pursuit of a teaching degree.

USA Coach |  Abi Contreras
Coach Abi graduated from Lincoln High School in May 2015. She was a member of the Lincoln Rails swim team for all four years. Abi swam the sprint freestyle events (50 Free and 100 Free) and was the freestyler on the 2014 state qualifying 200 Medley Relay. Abi started assisting the SDMS club team in 2013.

Additional Winter Staff

Club Assistant Coach | Haley Allen
Coach Haley is currently a senior at Lincoln High School. She has been a member of the Rails women’s swim team for all four years as a swimmer and diver. Haley started assisting the SDMS club team in the summer of 2015. She also works as a lifeguard in the summer.

Club Assistant Coach | Grace Crady
Coach Grace is currently a junior at Norwalk High School. She has been a member of the Rails women’s swim team for the last three seasons. Grace normally swims distance events for the Rails (200 Free and 500 Free) and in the 200 Free Relay and 400 Free Relay. She also runs track and plays in the band at Norwalk High School.

Club Assistant Coach | Cat Dooley
Coach Cat is currently a sophomore at Lincoln High School. She has been a member of the Rails women’s swim team for the last two seasons. Prior to high school swimming, Cat was an SDMS club and USA swimmer for several years (and still is in the off-season). She swims the breaststroke, sprint freestyle and the 200 IM. Cat started assisting the club team this past summer in 2017 by teaching lessons.
