SDMS Wins 6th Straight Title!
Congratulations to all of the swimmers that participated in the 2013 Central Hawkeye Conference Championship! South DM Swimming brought home the 6th straight conference title, winning by almost 600 points over second place Altoona.
Friday’s session was marked with fast swims by several high school and middle school swimmers. This older group of SDMS athletes won 50% of the available medals for the night!
Saturday’s session had great swims too! The younger swimmers dropped time and took top spots in several events. In fact, they took 20 first places out of the 31 events on Saturday. Wow!
Overall – the SDMS Seahawks took home 42% of the medals for the entire meet! That’s up from 29% this winter. This impressive stat shows how much the athletes have improved in just one season. It also shows how deep the team is, as a whole, in all strokes and distances.
Final Scores
South DM Swimming: 1825
Altoona: 1263
Boone: 1026
Indianola: 890
Roosevelt: 395
A complete PDF of the meet results can be found in the Current Season tab with all of the other meet results. All the results from the summer season will remain posted until a few weeks before the next season starts.
All medals and ribbons can be found in your family folder and be picked up anytime this week during practice. Remember that we have the normal practice schedule Monday through Thursday this week, ending this season with a team party on Thursday at 5:30pm. Don’t forget your summer T-shirts for the team picture! Parents are encouraged to bring treats/drinks for a pot-luck style food banquet for all to share.
