Seahawks Rock The Blocks!
The summer club season kicked off on June 4th! And the Seahawk USA swimmers already had their first meet this past weekend (6/6-6/8), the Ames event – Rock the Blocks. Though many storms in the area rained down on the swimmers, the Seahakws continued to swim fast in the outdoor meter pool!
Most of the USA swimmers have been swimming all of May to get ready for these early meets and the extra practice is paying off! This weekend the SDMS swimmers saw great times, especially considering it’s the first time for most to compete in “long-course”.
Long-course meets are run in meters which requires extra stamina. The events also offer longer options (ex. 200 Breaststroke) instead of the more standard-length races. The extra distance didn’t faze these swimmers though – almost everyone beat their seed times in their events!
